The Desroches Family Watches The World Cup...

Here is our morning in photos:

The day started with Kai not happy that I was dressed and not taking her on a walk but instead heading out to get breakfast.

After six months of craving doughnuts I finally got them today! It has taken me that long to find good ones and now that I have I just might have to have them every day...

Gil really wanted the whole family paying attention and supporting the US so he made Kai watch...she wasn't really into it.

She was passed out asleep on the couch within 30 minutes of the game starting...
Gil was nervous and stressed for the US team

And I was just happy to have doughnuts and my husband home for the weekend!

I think Aubrie is a soccer player in the making. She was practicing her kicks most of the game.

Sadly Gil left after the game upset but he is now at the golf course hopefully playing well and having fun. I told him to just shake off the loss and win us some money golfing!

Moving Update

I went yesterday and signed our new lease so the house is officially ours! There will be no call saying, 'Just kidding. We can't move you!' Which up until this point I felt was a very big possibility with how these people work.

We will get the keys to our new place on the 7th. Packers will pack the old house on the 7th and load the truck and deliver to the new house on the 8th. We have an inspection for our new house and the old and we also already have the cable people coming out on the 9th to set it up again so Gil doesn't miss any of the World Cup!

In other news we had a fun filled weekend of sports and shopping. We watched...soccer, golf & tennis (me watching mostly the soccer and nothing else.) During our sports tv marathon we were told of an amazing shoe sale going on at the Bass outlet. Lucky us I had actually, accidentally found our outlet mall here on the island on Friday and saw that they had a Bass store but didn't go in. Come Sunday when we found out about the great deal Gil would not stop talking about it till I called to see if they had the same deal. Sure enough they did (thanks mom for the heads up...the bill is in the mail to you now!)

The next thing we know we are in the car headed to the outlet mall and we don't get home until 10 that night (although that is due to us also going to the movies.) We did some major damage at the outlet mall and came home with some great things. Sadly the deal on shoes was only for men's (buy one pair get two FREE!) but the women's shoes were on sale. So we both ended up with boat shoes which we have been wanting for years as well as some water/hiking shoes that I have really needed them due to the coral on our beaches. I seem to always cut my foot when I am down on the beach playing with Kai. We also were able to find some great deals on golf clothing for Gil.

And since we know I don't like to post without pictures. Here are our new....
Boat shoes
and new water/hiking shoes.

Now I am off to bake this to satisfy my crazy pregnant sweet tooth.

We are MOVING...down the street!!!

After 3 months of fighting we finally got a house! I am not sure how but I guess one just magically appeared that they are able to offer us. However it happened we will be moving the beginning of July! We get our keys on the 7th and should be out of our old house and fully in our new house by the 12th!

It is just down the street so we can still walk to the beach. We will have a never before lived in 4 bedroom house (which we never even imagined having), a beautiful flowering tree in our front yard, a brand new gorgeous kitchen and central air!!!!! Can you tell I am excited. The street isn't open yet to drive but I was able to walk down the side walk across the street from it today. I think it should be open soon, they just have to finish putting up the fences.

On other news an old high school friend of ours (Deanna) was on island for work so we got to meet up with her for dinner before she flew back home. She was here last year and we met up for lunch, this time Gil was home so we all caught up over dinner at Jimmy Buffets. It was so nice to see her and hopefully we will next end up in VA and be able to meet up whenever we want for dinner in DC!
I went to a baby shower this past weekend as well. (Which you can read more about here http://baby-desroches.blogspot.com/) But I did want to share one other thing which I didn't in that post. The mom-to-be and dad-to-be are supporters of two different teams which happen to be a huge rivalry. In honor of that one of her close friends had these onesies made. The funny thing about it though is the one that has OSU on the butt has Michigan on the front and vise versa! I don't know if their baby will ever be seen in these but they sure are cute!
Well, that is all for now. I will be sure to get pictures of the new house once we get our keys!

Meal Time

Lately I have been searching for some new recipes to make just to have something different. I reverted back to a few recipes I ate growing up but just haven't made in a while. We are now on our second week full of all sorts of new/new-old recipes.

We started with homemade pulled pork with a homemade mustard-base bbq sauce, coleslaw and a new recipe for banana pudding for dessert. Gil and I both liked all of it. The pulled pork definitely made the house really hot though so I think I will wait to make that again until I am not pregnant and not living in HI without central air!

Next up was corned-beef and cabbage. I love this meal and don't know why we only eat it around St. Patrick's day. We had it a week after St. Patty's day because Gil wasn't home for St. Patty's and to me it doesn't really matter. It is such a good, filling meal I don't know why we need a holiday to eat it. So from now on we will eat it any time we want! Gil really loved it since there were so many veggies.
The next few recipes we did were found on Real Simple. We tried chicken with creamy mushrooms. I served it with rice. We liked it but thought it need a little more flavor. Next new recipe was roasted chicken with sweet potatoes and parsnips in olive oil and maple syrup. I loved the chicken and Gil loved the veggies. Both of these recipes we are going to go back to the drawing board and tweak them a little. The roasted chicken won't need much work...just a little less cook time and I think a little more seasoning on the veggies.

Finally tonight I made stuffed shells, salad and homemade garlic bread. This one was hands down our favorite. There was absolutely nothing we would have changed about it so it is definitely going down into the recipe box.

We actually had a whole day of really good food. Gil bought a blender a few days ago so we have been making smoothies every morning. Today we had pineapple, mango and peach and I think it was our best yet. Then for lunch we just had simple ham sandwiches but they were just very tasty today. Then to top it all off we had a great Italian dinner. No dessert though. I have had a MAJOR sweet tooth lately so I have been trying to limit the amount of desserts I make. I have a whole list of desserts I want to make but I am trying to have enough will power to spread them out over time...so far so good.

I wish I had more pictures of these meals to share, I will try and get better at snapping a few shots before we eat.

I know this was a long one all about food but those who know me, know how much I love food so I apologize to those who didn't find this post super entertaining, next one won't be all about food.

Hope you all have a good week and an even better long holiday weekend.

Anniversary, Kicks, & Baby Clothes

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!
Today is my parents 30th wedding anniversary! Sadly they weren't able to spend it together since my Dad is in Africa right now for work but once he is back in June they will celebrate hopefully with a trip somewhere new. They set a very good example for us kids, thanks for that!

As of last Tuesday, the 4th of May, I was able to feel Aubrie kick and since then she hasn't stopped. It is a very cool feeling! Gil finally gets home tomorrow and I am excited for him to feel it and I think he is pretty excited as well! We have another appointment on the 14th and I am excited to see how much she has grown since our last appointment.

I got my first 2 baby packages this weekend. One came on Saturday from Gil's parents but I was ordered to not open it till Gil got home so it has been torturing me since Saturday! It is such a big box I can't wait to find out what it is! Then today I got a package from my Grandma of the things she has bought since we found out we were pregnant. They are all such cute things! I can't wait to have little Aubrie to put in all the clothes.
Oh, I also got my package of bumgenius diapers! There was a promotion on a website if you ordered one you got the second one free. They are so tiny and cute! I hope they work well!
And last but definitely not least, a picture of my adorable Kai. I made cupcakes last weekend and was taking some pictures when Kai wanted to get involved...a little too involved! This is the furthest I could get her from the cupcakes!

Busy Week

Well Gil and I had a very busy week while he was home. We found out we are having a girl, we found our stroller/car seat, crib and changing table, I registered at 3 different places (had way to much fun looking at all the adorable girly things!), we had fancy hot dogs at Hanks Haute Dogs (VERY good by the way), we golfed twice (Gil golfing, me driving the cart), decided on the spelling of our baby girls name, took Kai for a swim, had great healthy dinners every night...and I am sure there is something I am missing. Oh yeah, bought our awesome new pots at Williams Sonoma which we have been planning for almost a year.

I think we did a pretty good job of not only getting stuff done but getting out of the house and enjoying ourselves for the short time that Gil was home. He is now gone again to the big island for training. He will be back in May and will have a little more time before he has to leave for more training. We find it funny how much I change he time he leaves. When he left in March I had no baby bump and by the time he returned I was starting to show and this time I think I will be doubling in size again by the time he comes home. I am looking forward to him getting back home and going to the doctor again to see how much our baby girl has grown.

Check out our baby blog I just updated it with a few pictures.

Lastly, I would like to share a photo from this past weekend of baby shopping.
Gil is very excited about getting a BabyBjorn or as we call it a baby bouncer. One of the stores we went to they had all the different kinds to try and compare and they even had a 10 lbs doll to help make it more realistic.

Birthday Surprise!

So imagine being 3 months pregnant, asleep for an hour when you get a phone call from a friend (3 days before your birthday) asking you to come to your front door because she has something for you.

That is exactly what happened to me last month. I was thoroughly confused but crawled out of bed and headed to the door. I opened and and guess who was there!?

None other than my Momma!
Apparently this trip had been planned since last October! It ended up working out well cause not only was Gil gone but my Dad is in Germany so we got to keep each other company and celebrate my 25th birthday.

We really didn't do much. She helped/did a lot of the cleaning of my house which was very helpful and my house has never looked better. She helped deal with a housing situation we have been working on for a while now and we went out and celebrate my birthday with a few friends.

She got to meet a new friend of mine and get to know my friends a little better over dinner.

We started my birthday with a few presents and then went to dinner at my favorite restaurant, Framaggio's. My friends, Meredith, Pat, Genevieve & Lane joined us for dinner and we had a great time. After dinner we stopped by our favorite frozen yogurt place, YoGurt Momma's as dessert. It was a really great night and I got some great gifts from my friends.

Sadly the next day I got a really bad headache which didn't go away before my mom left so we just spend the time taking Kai on walks and hanging out in the sun outback.

It was a really great time and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect gift for my birthday. It will be a birthday to remember for sure!
This is a picture of my mom and I on my birthday after dinner

Lastly I would like to announce a new blog I have created just for Baby D. So if you are interested, check it out. I will try and be good about updating it. http://baby-desroches.blogspot.com

Hope you are all doing well. Come back later this week because we will be announcing the sex of our baby!
