From Desert to Snow

We have had quite a lot of fun lately. During the weekend leading up to President's Day we went snowboarding and rock climbing.

Who knew that only 1.5 hours from our house in the desert you could be on top of a mountain full of snow and enough snow to go snowboarding!? We made the trip with a couple of friends and minus getting kicked off the hill due to the no sleds on the property rule we had a great time. The guys spent the day snowboarding while us ladies played with the kids in the snow. We were sad to hear there was no place to sled but we still managed to have a great time. Next time we plan to all get ski's or snowboards and we will take turns watching the kids so we can all get a little time on the slopes. The very next day we spent rock climbing in Joshua Tree. We had a new couple join which was fun. We also did a few new routes which were very challenging but enjoyable.

Aubrie has been a ball of energy lately. She is really growing into toddler-dom. Sometimes she is really a handful but mostly we have a blast playing together and learning. She has learned all her major body parts and loves to point to them on us or herself. She is full of kisses which have gotten very wet lately with the addition of a lick during the kiss. Just tonight she said what I would consider her first real word (as in no matter whether you know her or not you would know exactly what she said) which was 'night-night.' We know it wasn't a coincidence because she said it 3 times. I was very excited.

She has started some not so great behaviors as well such as hitting. We are trying to nip it in the bud but she seems to think it is funny or can be fixed with a simple kiss. She also has started throwing things when she gets frustrated or angry. I am really not a fan of this. Hopefully if we stick with our firm no's and explain that it isn't nice we can make it through this phase. I hope we all learn fast so we don't have to keep apologizing to our friends and are able to just enjoy our play dates.

We are looking into going back to My Gym twice a month and run off some of that energy as well as learn how to play nicely with others. I just think she doesn't have enough time with others her age. We are also preparing to rid our house of paci's which should be fun. I think I am dreading it more than anyone else. Any tips would be more than welcome!

We are off to climb again tomorrow (Gil is learning how to set the ropes up so we can start to go on our own, when others aren't able too.) Hope you all have great weekend.

Harper once threw some peas at some strangers while at a restaurant. Though I was embarrassed, they quickly said they were grandparents and weren't at all upset. Thank goodness!
